We believe that by “protecting people’s present, we secure their dreams.”  We are searching for an experienced high-energy Health Insurance Broker Representative to work in either the Richmond area or the Va.Beach area.. The position involves creating and maintaining employer-based benefit programs, in-depth knowledge of insurance plans and the ACA, and extensive product knowledge and understanding of industry trends. The Broker Representative will be the primary point of contact for our independent broker partners and our carrier partners, for both current and new business. The Broker Representative may also assist in developing sales strategies and issue resolution. You should be an adaptable, knowledgeable multi-tasker with strong communication and computer skills.

Successful Broker Representative will be a skilled communicator and analyst who can help the Broker find the best fit for the Client.

Salary: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

  • This position will require in-depth knowledge of multiple health carriers’ plans, policies, and parameters as well as a working knowledge of the Affordable Care Act.
  • The Broker Representative will process new and/or renewal business and keep broker updated as to status.
  • The Broker Representative will perform various administrative duties and assist our brokers with customer service and billing problems.
  • The role will keep detailed records of each service call, including copies of critical documents, in Salesforce CRM.
  • BR will become a credible and dependable resource, developing a trusting/productive relationship with the Brokers to facilitate client satisfaction and ultimately growth of the Broker’s book of business.
  • BR will also develop and maintain strong relationships with sales and support staff of carrier partners, managing their process and policy requirements effectively.
  • Will educate and train new and existing brokers on all aspects of health plans, including comparisons to the competition.
  • Will update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances insurance agency reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Stays current with legislation and trends affecting insurance
  • Provides high-quality, timely service and troubleshooting assistance

  • High School Diploma required; college degree in related field preferred but not required

Experience and Additional Competencies:

  • Life & Health Insurance License (required within 2 months)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an ability to become familiar with firm-specific programs and software
  • Proficiency in collaboration and delegation of duties
  • Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with excellent multi-tasking and follow-up abilities
  • Basic analytical and mathematical skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Friendly and professional demeanor



  • Sales: 2 years experience (outside sales or inside sales representative, retail sales associate, or telemarketing)
  • Service: 2 years experience
  • Successful track record of meeting sales goals/quotas
