We also are a General Agent for employee benefits and senior business, representing roughly 25 insurers and working with over 700 agents. We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated professional to join our growing team.

The Human Resources Advisor will be a resource for our own clients, and for the agents who write business through us. The individual must have a diverse HR and compliance background in life and health products in both group and individual products. Familiarity with extraterritorial issues, eligible groups, and group trusts. The candidate must be professional, highly organized, detail-oriented, and a team player capable of providing expertise and direction in the area of employee benefits information and compliance. They will be required to develop and conduct training on the related subject matter and use their personal experience, industry knowledge, and other various data points to help provide guidance to support and maintain the company’s continued rapid expansion.  

Salary: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

In this position, your responsibility will be to perform high-level research and be a resource for review of:

  • state laws and regulations,
  • Federal Legislation Guidance on Cobra, ACA, ERISA, DOL as it pertains to group health and/or employee benefit plans. 
  • ACA Compliance Assistance on Objectives in meeting Minimum Value and Affordability Standards.  Affordability standards/measurements change from year to year (the %age); Employer Penalty (A&B) Guidance/Updates as those annual figures change with inflation, PCORI Fee filing reminders/guidance, 1095 IRS Reporting.
  • ACA Look Back Measurement Periods
  • ERISA rights as it pertains to group health plans
  • Wellness program guidelines (premium deltas allowed)
  • Eligibility questions
  • Employee Classification Questions
  • Employer Contribution Differentials as it relates to employee classifications
  • IRS Related Questions
  • Nondiscrimination Questions
  • Waiting Period Questions
  • COVID / PPP Related Questions

Requirements

  • Research, analyze, and prepare compliance memos by reviewing state and federal laws, regulations, bulletins, and other information sources. Be creative in research and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret and communicate compliance regulations with broker partners and clients.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with extraterritorial research, group trusts, association products, and traditional group supplemental and/or medical products.
  • Utilize strong project management skills; handle multiple projects and products; keep clients and staff abreast of status.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Health and Benefits background.

Minimum 4-year college degree in Business, Insurance, English, Law, or related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to effectively with diverse clients.

Demonstrated ability to work productively on an independent basis and remote from a home office operation.

Strong interpersonal skills and business judgment; ability to enhance team performance through individual contribution and focus on common goals.

Demonstrated progressive and broad-based comprehension of insurance operations such as contracts, claims, underwriting.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Proficient use of MS Office 365 Suite and familiarity with current e-trends, i.e., Ease Central, payroll, and enrollment technology.
